kitsune-rei.livejournal.comOkay, here's my birth control pill saga. Yes I think its about long enough to call a saga... *takes deep breath*
I've been taking BC pills since I was in high school because I had really painful, heavy, and long periods. Then it because a bonus when I got a boyfriend and we were sexually active ^_^. Anyway, I get them by mail order in 3 month packages because that is the only way they will do them. My dad switched insurance companies once again so I had just switched to Novcon or something like that because of course they didn't cover the ones I was on. My mother has been taking care of getting the pills since I've been in college and don't really know how it all works anyway ^_^; I've been living with her again for about 5 months since I graduated but plan on moving up north next week. So she reordered for me about a month ago so I'd have enough to last me for a bit since as soon as I move my health insurace will likely end, since it was only covering me as a student (so once I move I'll be like 6 mos or so without health insurance, until I can find a job that offers it.) But they were out of that kind and simply cancelled our order without notifying us. She finally called to see why her order had disappeared and they told her about two weeks ago. So then we had to figure out what kinds they still DID have in stock, and had to get a new perscription from the gynocologist. I decided on Zovia, since I'd been on it before and it seemed okay. So then the mail order presription place and the gynocologist office went back and forth for about a week- one couldn't get ahold of the other, one would send the wrong info or do the wrong thing, blah blah blah and my mother has left them a bunch of messages. I thought we finally had it kinda straightened out. The gyno won't write me a new perscription for longer than the time until I get another checkup (I was due in May), so basically they'll only write a 2-month prescription. Which basically is as good as nothing since the company will only fill 3 months at a time under insurance, and they're quite expensive without. I *finally* got an appointment the day before I leave next week (Wed) but I'll have my period that week so they can't do all their pap smear stuff! So basically that means no birth control pills for me all because the @#%$ company ran out of the pills I was taking and has no idea when they'll get more (the implication was it could be many months, if they got them in again at all.) The gynocologist was kind enough to give me a sample pack of Norinyl (whatever the heck that is, I've never had those before) to hold me over but I'm still basically screwed.
Anyway, to sum it up I basically have one unused pack of birth control pills left, which I will start in two weeks. And then nothing. What can I do?? I can't afford to find some other doctor and do visits with them just to get a new perscription right after I move, and I dont' really have the money to pay for them without health insurance. Is there any other way I can get them?? ;_;
And for some reason they gynocologist office keeps wanting me to get on Orthotricyclein again... they keep saying to take it over and over but I've been on it and I DON'T LIKE IT and we keep telling them that!! *grumble* The first time they called my perscription in they wanted to do it for that instead of the Zovia but this company doesn't even carry Ortho anyway I think. Why is this just so complecated?? My other big concern, other than I'll feel like absolute sh!t off of the pills, is that I havn't seen my boyfriend in many months. We'd like to you know, have some good sex since we havn't seen each other in forever! But I don't feel comfortable doing it without being on BC, I dont't trust just condoms.
Sorry guess that went on long enough... I just kinda needed to vent too ^_^; I'm just so frusterated and stressed by this in addition to having to worry about packing etc. etc. so I can move 1000 miles away by myself in my lil car!
