Well, tomorrow I'm going to the gyno for the first time ever. I"m not scared or anything. I am sexually active, and maybe some of you have read my posts about my horrible cramps. I mostly want to go to see if I have a cyst (a previous CatScan showed I had liquid in my pelvic area) and I've always have strange discomforts in between periods. Plus not to meantion the depression, headaches and mood swings I go through the week before I'm due. If everything is ok with me, and I don't have any cysts or anything, just bad cramps and symtoms, I would like her to give me a heavy painkiller. I'd also like to get on the BCP for my own safety (though I will continue using condoms with my bf). Now, my mom of course doesn't know I'm sexually active...she's going with me, but I"m making her stay in the waiting room when I go in...I suppose I have to fill out papers, and she might want to look at them (she's nosy) so I"ll probably have to lie in the "are you sexually active" question. Is that ok? That I lie in the paperwork and leter in tell the gyno the truth?
Another thing...the BCP and painkillers...they don't have any bad addicting sideeffects do they? I'm taking this drug abuse and addiction course in the university and it's so interesting how all drugs (meds) affect your body without you not knowing it...I've heard (and read here) that the BCD can cause nausea, depression, etc...Do you all recommend a good painkiller and a good type of BCP that doesn't have any bad effects?
Is it possible that the gyno can prescribe me both the BCP and painkillers?
ACK...Sorry for all the questions..

If you're having real bad depression and mood swings the week before your period you might have PMDD (Pre-Menstrual Disphoric Disorder). I have PMDD and before I was put on medicine for it the week before my period I was a completely different person: the littlest thing that usually wouldn't bother me would set me off, I'd cry for no reason, I even wanted to kill myself for no reason other than I felt sad. The day my period would start it would all dissapear. My doctor orginally put me on Birth Control to help it but it didn't do anything so he put me on Fluoxetine and I take it 7 days before the start of my period (which I monitor through the birth control). Despite the drowsy side effect, that wears off in a hour to hour and a half, the Fluoxetine works wonders. And I would rather live with the drowsy side effect than go through all the stuff I used to feel the week before my period.

As for cramps the birth conrol pill didn't help mine so my doctor gave me Vioxx 50mg to take for my cramps. It has worked wonders.
