This is a strange question, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's ok to have sex while you have a urinary tract infection.

eep. I can barely stand when *I* have a UTI, I can't imagine anything touching me down there unless it's a cool washcloth.

hmm.. well it doesn't hurt, i just feel like i have to pee constantly. my mom started me on pills this morning (that's when it started).. so i was just wondering, because i'm seeing my boyfriend tonight. oh well, thanks.

Are you sure it's a UTI then? UTI symptoms include painful/burning urination, a constant urge to pee, and often cloudy urine. Perhaps a doctor visit is in order?

uh, yeah i'm sure. my mom is a nurse, she had me pee in a cup and she tested it when she went to work.

Often, UTIs are sex related because bacteria can get forced into the urethra during sex. It's probably a good idea to wait until you've treated the infection rather than risk further irritation.

hmm.. i havent had sex in weeks. my mom thinks it's from when i was in the hot tub. lots of bacteria.

Not all UTIs are sex related. It's one way that they happen. My point was more that if you've already got one, and you're treating it, it's probably not a good idea to do things that will force more bacteria or other bacteria in.

And it does take time for bacteria to grow into an infection.

Make sure you pee before and after sex...it helps.

my doc told me to pee after i have sex to push out any bacteria and try to avoid a UTI. So far its working!!

same here. i take cranberry pills before or after sex, too.
