My younger sister just got her period in the end of june for the first time. It's been continuing for the last 3 weeks, on and off. Should my mom mention this to our doctor?

Is it particularly heavy and/or painful?

I would mention it to a doctor, or maybe speak to a nurse. It's scary if it is your first time and things don't seem to be going right, and I would think that reassurance is probably just as important as diagnosis (if any).
