I got my period the first time when I was ten.
I was told that was young, and that everyone got it at 13 usually...
So, out of curiousity:
How old where you when you got yours?

I was 13, just turned it. I had it for two days and then it decided to wait a whole 'nother year for it to happen again. What an odd one.

14 1/2. In the middle of freshman midterms. I think I was the last in my social group to get it. Many others had had theirs for years.

For many years it was very irregular. Went on the pill to regulate it but didn't like the side effects (weight gain, bloating, sun sensitivity). But that was in the late 70's, I think the pills are better now.

It's rarely been regular without hormonal or herbal help.

i was thirteen.

i was out trick-or-treating, actually, and my stomach hurt so we had to come early, and i went to the bathroom and was like, oh look at that. put on a pad and didn't give it a second thought.

mom came home and did that whole "OH MY GOD MY LITTLE GIRL IS BECOMING A WOMAN" *cry cry* thing and i was just like, damn it, i wanted more candy.

my best friend knows someone who got hers at seven, though. SEVEN. jesus.

and to keep rambling about menstruation, my first "real" introduction to it... we live on a golf course. one day, one of my mother's friends showed up at our door. she had apparently been golfing, got her period unexpectedly, and was like, COVERED in blood. she (jokingly) said to my mother, "i'm hemorrhaging", and i, at eleven, thought she was DYING. my mother's all, "no, she just has her period", so for the next two years i was like, shit... i'm going to BLEED TO DEATH.

i was 14. we were on a school field trip to the art museum. and of course, the art museum had no pads or anything in the bathrooms, so i walked around w/a wad of toilet paper in my panties. i felt sexy. lol.

I had just turned 11 a few weeks before - it was the summer between 5th and 6th grade. It was awful and painful - but at least I was at home when it happened.
I teach 4th grade and cannot believe that there were 9 year old girls in the class that have it already! Unreal!

It happened when I was 9. I seemed to be the person who got everything first. I remember being teased for wearing a bra in 2nd or 3rd grade. But what goes around comes around, and some of those who made fun of me didn't have breasts or anything to really be proud of in middle school when everyone generally has them and in return they got teased. Mmmm... gotta love karma.
