Jul. 23rd, 2003 08:29 pmWell, since I'm on OTC and very busy lately and mainly don't want to have to deal with needing a toilet every three or four hours and also don't want to be troubled with buying pads again, I decided to skip. So instead of my placebo pills, I started my new pack. And today was the day I would normally have gotten my period.
Let me tell you, there was a civil war raging here. My body kept saying that I'm supposed to bleed now, but my hormones kept telling my body no, definitely not. So I ended up spending half the day nauseous and cramping. It didn't help that I was at a friend's house since yesterday and they're remodeling the bathroom, so even after they did finally install the toilet around three this afternoon, there's still no doors. And I was just feeling too poorly to get up and come home to my secluded toilet room. >_<
Anyone else tried skipping on OTC and had similar issues? I'm figuring that it's related to the fact that OTC has a different level for each week. I'm assuming it's easier to skip when one's on, say Mircette or Aleese?

Date: 2003-07-23 08:42 pm (UTC)this last month, i switched from OTC to OTC-lo...decided to try skipping again, as i was on vacation. worked like a charm. minimal cramping, no bleeding, etc.
but...(yeah, there's a but...lol) 2 days ago (about 2 weeks after when the skipped period would have been) i started bleeding HUGE clots and having massive cramps, so needless to say, i don't think i'm gonna try and skip again anytime soon. although it would seem the more often you skip, the more accustomed your body would become to not having a period. i know there are some ladies in here who skipped on OTC several times and had no problems.
anyway, if you want to make skipping a regular event, you might want to call your gyno and ask them about constant level BC...they should fill you in as to your options. best of luck to you! hope you start feeling better! *hugs*

I still attribute it to the different hormone levels for each week on my OTC. I intend to switch, but need to talk it over with my gyno to decide which one. Those different hormone levels are hell on my moods, too. I think I PMS less when I'm left to my own devices. >_< Then again, my cramps kill me when I'm left to my own, so... *shrug*
Want to skip successfully. But I'll wait til I have a different prescription. O_o*
