I have a question that might not be appropriate for this community, but I figured I'd ask. Is it possible for your vagina to get "stretched out", from a lot of sex or child birth? A friend and I have opposing opinions and wanted to clear it up. Thanks!

Folks have asked about that on [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina a lot, too.

Vaginas are very elastic. They have to be. Whole babies go through, and leave it nice and elastic after that. Just think -- not long after childbirth, a woman can hold a little ol' tampon inside for half a day!

However, there's an industry (http://www.jendajournal.com/jenda/vol1.1/Dvagina.html) dedicated to the idea that men like tight, "virginal" women, scaring women into thinking that they're too stretched out. It's crap.

oh my goodness! I can say I was thoroughly shocked by that. I have NEVER once thought "are my labia too big?" I'm completely dumbfounded. That's some effed up shit.

Well, i have given birth vaginally to 2 children (8lbs 4oz and 7 lbs 13 oz) and i can tell you i am not the same as i was before. BUT you can re-train your PC muscle which will re-tone your vaginal muscles. They don't go back to "normal" all on their own, but doing kegels will do wonders.
