I am using O.B. tampons for the first time today (yep, just entered the hut), and I had a little trouble getting it in. They don't have an applicator, and I've always used tampons with applicators. I felt like I couldn't get it far enough in.

Any tips?

On a different note, I ordered a DivaCup on Thursday, so this will hopefully be my last period dealing with tampons!

EDIT: No better luck with the second one. So far my experience with them is not a good one! I'm cranky and crampy and this is not fun at all. I've heard so many good things about O.B., so please, if you have tips, let me know.

You have to really make sure you get the OB tampon in far enough-you only want the string to be dangling...Its challenging at first to insert tampons without an applicator but if you really understand where they are supposed to go and how deep they need to be, and relax...it should be fine. If your flow is really light it might be harder because you might be dry, so just relax and take your time. Before I totally remove the plastic on the tampon, I open the end with the string only, the I pull the string towards the tip of the tampon in like four directions so that the base gets wider-I think those directions are on the box-it helps and then you have a place for your finger to push the tampon in. The directions on the box are very helpful! I have been using OB tampons for a long time, and I am hoping to make the switch to the DivaCup or Keeper soon.
Good luck!

ok, this is an odd tip, but beyond all the above advise- i use my middle finger to push them in. that extra centimeter helps a fair bit... hope that helps!

i hate O.B. tampons... they were the first type of tampons i tried and they were never comfortable so it kinda made me think i couldnt use tampons at all. i just use tampax with applicators now and im so happy.
i have a friend who uses O.B. though.. she uses a Q-tip to help push the tampon in deeper, which makes it more comfortable... i've never tried it but you could try and see if it works.
