okay...im sitting here with a cunt full of yogurt....bleh
I got a nasty icky yeast infection from my birth control pills. I read somewhere on the internet that yogurt can help cure a yeast infection, because of the acidophilous in it. So I went and got some unflavered, no sugar, plain yogurt and i stuck some up there. I'm kinda worried about it though. I mean, how long am i supposed to leave it in there? Will it go bad? (ick! yuck! bleh!)
I feel so gross. I never had this problem until i got on the pill, and now it happens every month, right before i take my green pills.
Any one got any suggestions?

i don't know about sticking yogurt up there.

you can go to any drug store and purchase acidophilus in capsule form. it's a lot easier and a lot safer.

eating the yogurt is also a good idea. as long as it gets into your system, you should be good to go.

i used to have problems with yeast infections and the best cure i've found so far is lots of cranberry extract and lots of acidophilus. you can bolster it by drinking lots of water and eating well.

Dude, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to EAT the yougurt. Acidophilus tablets should work, but if you can't afford that, just drink a LOT of water and eat a BUNCH of yogurt. Every time I get my period, I end up with a *GRRR* yeast infection. So far, the acidophilus and yougurt/water techniques are all that have worked for me.

Lots of Love,

This site has some good (albeit some strange) info and advice.

I dunno if this will help or not, but sometimes cutting back on your sugar intake helps with yeast infections. Its supposed to help the "good" yeast deal with the "bad" yeast. But its something you have to do all the time, not just once you get one.
I hope you feel better!

that sounds right. i know diabetics that dont follow their diet have problems with yeast infections, and i never had even one until i became borderline diabetic. i notice that when i cheat on my diet, things down under take a turn for the worse, yaknowhutimsyn?

everyone else has talked about the yogart, but no one addressed the issue of your birth control. you say that you're getting one every month? go to your doctor and have your birth control prescription changed. if you don't need it to prevent pregnancy, you could even stop taking it for a while.

I feel your pain. I get yeast all the time and it SUCKS.

you should definately see about changing the pills-- there's a million kinds now and probably you won't have the same reaction with another kind...

if the yogurt didn't work-- Gyne-lotramin costs $8 for a 7-day treatment. Get the guy you're with to pay for it if you can't-- it's you who's dealing with the birth control!

I usually just eat the yogurt starting the week before I hit the period-pills. And actually, I noticed lately that I don't seem to be getting them anymore even without they yogurt - I think the condoms I was using was doing it to me. Or the lube. Some lubes have glucose in them ...

how the hell did I get on this topic?

Ah well... at any rate, you might try like they said, cut back sugar, eat the yogurt and see your OB/BYN when you can, or go to planned parenthood.

Matzo/Unleavened Bread......

I almost never get yeast infections .... But I eat a great deal of yogurt and drink about one cup a day of cranberry cove tea.... So that has a lot to do with it.... One thing you might want to check out is cutting out eating anything with yeast in it until you are over your infection.... you can get matzo which is yeast free crackers.... they're a jewish form of unleavened bread.... you should be able to get them at jewish deli that has a grocery section(which a lot do) and many regular groceries will have them also in the ethnic section and some even have a specific section for jewish foods.... just a thought.....

I congratulate you on both your poor reading comprehension and your inadequate manners. Not to mention your bravery at posting anonymously.

Do you get off reading the menstruation board, you freak? All this talk of pussies and you're never going to get *anywhere* near a real one.

:P

Yeah, I've heard of this remedy (haven't tried it). Good old fashioned home remedy. Don't worry about it going bad, hell, it's YOGURT. It's already sour!

If you have insurance to pay for RX but no actual money for over the counter stuff, you can get your doc to prescribe a Diflucan pill. You take it once, and it knocks yeasties right out. But more important you should look at causes. Is there something in your habits or diet that is causing this? You're not supposed to get these habitually--something's out of whack.
