oh man...i totally sympathize. i've tracked my migraines for 4 years now, and they don't have anything to do with my period, but they're TERRIBLE. when i feel one coming on, i just want to curl up and sleep for 2 days. i'm so sorry you have them too. :(
i've found fish or fish liver oil supplements help me avoid them a little bit...but migraines are a weird thing, they're different for everyone. but they always suck. :(
I always get a migraine around my period . . . sometimes right before ... sometimes during ... sometimes right after ... I have imitrex for my migraines . . . I always keep it on hand . . . If you can get a prescription from your doctor . . . you will probably use the sheet of 9 each month . . . but it works . . .
Also, ice .... if you have frozen veggies in your freezer --- I use them or something like that and just move it around my eye and face where it hurts . . .
Also, eat ice cream and drink coffee together --- ie --- eat a bite of ice cream --- drink a sip of hot coffee . . . swear it helps ease the migraine . . .
These are just little tricks I've learned after years and years and years of having headaches and migraines . . .
I get migraines too... and it blows. Not always related to hormones, but often, they are. Although it wasn't the reason I went on BC, Mircette (or whatever generic I'm currently on) actually has (I think its...) estrogen in the last 5 pills. So there are actually only 2 placebos, and then the 5 estrogen (??) pills. That's for migraines, because (as my GYN tells me) a lot of hormonal headaches are caused by a huge drop overall in hormones right after your period starts. Just me, but you might want to try taking Tylenol for cramps instead of Motrin, because at least for me, the ibuprofin only makes my headaches worse.
Are you on the Pill? I used to get wicked migraines toward the end of my period & my gyn. said it was "estrogen withdrawal." I went off the Pill and they are much better now, but it's also possible to get a different kind of BC that includes a super low dose of hormones every day of the month; this is supposed to help.
Also do you eat chocolate then? That's a wicked migraine trigger in many people.
