nosebleeds

does anyone else get nosebleeds around the time of their period? i thought it was just coincidence for a while, but it keeps happening... i dont really have nosebleeds any other time of the month...

I read once that its not very common but it does happen you can bleed from other orifices such as nose,mouth,ear etc when you have your period.

When I was severely anemic, I had frequent nosebleeds. Is it possible you're flirting with anemia most of the time and the iron loss that happens with your period is triggering the nose bleeds?

i thought i might be anaemic because i had problems like fainting, but then i went to the doctor and was prescribed some tablets (mefenamic acid if anyones interested) which seemed to completely stop the fainting (yay!). they were painkillers because apparently the reason for fainting wasnt to do with blood loss it was because the uterus muscles were overstimulating some nerve... or something... anyway i sort of took that to mean that im not actually anaemic because i dont seem to have those problems any more (touch wood). plus the nosebleeds happen in the day or two before my period as well as during it.

and... anaemia causes bleeding?? that really sucks!

i do get little nosebleeds sometimes, only ever around my period! how weird, i thought it was just coincidence too, but the anemia explanation makes sense. (Terribly ironic, though, that anemia would cause bleeding!)
