How can one tell their period is coming? (besides cramps, bloating, etc) More like..the change in fluids...what is it like?

I can't remember offhand, but the book Cunt by Inga Muscio talks about the change in discharge throughout the menstrual cycle. She describes the consistency and the smell and everything. Interesting but I haven't myself paid any attention to see if it's true for me too.

i just get more discharge than usual a few days before my period starts. and it seems to be thicker, i think.
