Hey everyone.
I was telling my friend about the Menstrual Hut and she wanted me to ask everyone if they have heard of or know anything about this alternative bc she wants to go on... after she has her baby. :o)

It's called Mirena. I just looked at the website, it's very similar to an IUD... at least that's how it looks to me. Anyone on it? Know anyone on it?

anyone know anything?
thanks in advance.

Uh, Depo is the shot. Mirena is a hormonal IUD.

You should go check out the Memories section in the [livejournal.com profile] birthcontrol community! There are quite a few people who have the Mirena and love it! :)

I have a mirena! I love it. The spotting for the first month is a wee bit bothersome, but it goes away. My periods are ultra light and few cramps. Total no hassle BC... all you have to do is check the string once a month. Highly recommend it.

i got my Mirena about 3 months ago... i am still spotting, it can last anywhere from 1-6 months i was told.. but no cramping (i had a baby 5 months ago today, BTW). It is an IUD with a tiny, encapsulated dose of progesterone.... which helps with the cramping and heavy bleeding sometimes associated with IUDs.

i really like mine... DH can sort of feel the string, which is a common issue with all IUD's, but it isn't enough to really be bothersome.

The Mirena lasts 5 years, as opposed to 10 years for the Copper T IUD. But, that is just fine for us... we'll either decide to have another OR DH will get snipped in that timeframe.

If she has more questions, let her know she can email me. :D
