p.s. does anyone else make it a point to wear red undies while they're "in the hut?" i try to wear a red shirt on the first day, but definitely red, pink, etc undies throughout.
back when I was in college I made a t-shirt dyed with menstrual blood. on the theory that anything that can STAIN will work as a DYE. I basically fell asleep with it between my legs one night. it came out with a lovely mottled look that reminded me of something native-american, so I bought beads to put around the neck and sleeves to enhance the effect. I used to wear that sometimes while bleedind. Now that I'm out of college and working somewhere that has a dress-code t-shirts aren't acceptable (even if I DID feel like explaining it to my co-workers) so I don't wear it as much anymore.
It was great when people in college would ask about it though: them - "what is that shirt died with?" me - "my blood" them - "um... oh. did you cut yourself to make it?" me - "nope." them - *pause to think for a few moments* "oh!" and then varying reactions from embarassment to saying they were impressed to amusement to disgust.
wow. some anonymous fuckup wuss who was too lame to use their name OR to leave their comment replied and then deleted:
unhygenic and fucking nasty, aren't you worried about all the bacteria? fuck, get a life. how disgusting.
um. riiiiiiiiight. because bacteria that came out of my own body and already get on my skin normally are really likely to infect me. Because LOTS of bacteria live through a washing on hot water in a washing machine with detergent. Oh, and they live for years and years in a piece of fabric! Yup, those nasty bacteria... how terrifying.
aren't you worried that your brain is going to atrophy from stupidity? fuck, get an education. how pathetic.
No, but I tend to wear a garnet necklace the first few days I'm in the hut. Garnet (apart from being my favourite stone) is good for all issues connected to the blood, and aids in painful and emotional times.
No, black knickers or boxer shorts all the way. But i often wear something red on the outside (polo neck or t-shirt, for eg, or a necklace if i'm feeling queeny) as a sort of 'flag'.
I have red-pink knickers and I always make it a point to wear something red on the first day of my bleeding - often I wear something red at some point in the day in the lead-up too. I love the idea of going shopping for some really comfy underwear for during my period - something that I can flop around in without feeling like a granny 9dreaming on, hah!).

Other than that, my dress code doesn't change at _all_.
