I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I couldn't find any note of it in the memories section.

Do any of you have massive mood swings during your period? Not PMS mind you, actually during your little friends visit. I do and it's driving me nuts. I go from extremly happy to wanting to cut myself up with a razor blade in ten seconds flat. What gives? Any advice/studies/medication I might want to look into?

*first post by the way, hello.*

Oh my you need a visit from Auntie

HI,

Just i have endo and my mood swings can be horrendous, so should i say 'were' horrendous before a good friend told my partner about Agnus Castus.

Its a herbal remedy and in a medical journal tests show that it has a very noticeable effect on menstrual mood swings and cramps.

It has had such an effect on me that my daughters are in a habbit of calling it 'Aunty Aggy' and fetching my the bottle every day. THey don't want me to go back to the pre-Agnus days.

Quote "Agnus castus has been used for thousands of years for its beneficial affect on the female hormonal system. Modern research has confirmed this use, the seeds being used to restore balanced functioning to the female reproductive system."

here is more info http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11159568&dopt=Abstract

Extract "MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Main efficacy variable: change from baseline to end point (end of third cycle) in women's self assessment of irritability, mood alteration, anger, headache, breast fullness, and other menstrual symptoms including bloating"

I think it is worth asking a doctor if you can take it. Its only side effects are mild indigestion, or a mild skin rash. BUT you can't take it with other hormone tablets.

Warning 'Do not take Agnus Castus if pregnant. If taking hormone medication, please consult your doctor before using Agnus Castus.'
