I feel like using language my mother didn't teach me.

Here's my problem: I'm a night shift worker. I've been awake since 7.30 yesterday evening. I went to bed at about 8.30 this morning and haven't gotten a single wink of sleep since. I've tried reading (usually puts me out like a light) watching taped 'toons (strangely, the violent scenes in InuYasha and Turtles are rather soothing) and hell, I've even taken sleeping pills, something I frown on. I never know how my body will react to drugs.

And I still feel buzzed, as if I've downed a case of doubleshot espressos. It's quite irritating.

I managed to get the night off work tonight, so that's a load off, at least. What's this to do with my menses? Well, that's what I was hoping you guys could tell me. The insomnia thing has happened before, and I was wondering if there was a link. Has anyone experienced insomnia with their period?

When I'm on my period, I tend to sleep even MORE. :/ Last night I got in 12 hours.

Sorry I'm not much help.

I experience insomnia most of the time, but it's worse during my period. I've also tried the sleeping pills but they don't seem to work. The best thing I can tell you to do is make sure you have an established bedtime routine. This has seemed to help me. Also, I recommend picking up some sleepytime/nighttime tea. The boxes usually have a little sleeping animal printed on them. :)
If your problem continues, I recomend telling a doctor since insomnia can be a symptom of other health problems.
