Is this a Misscarriage?

I had unprotected sex during my last ovulation time... And didn't get my period On time at all. It was over a week late, and so I assumed I was pregnant. Then, to my dismay, I got my period, but nothing like any period I've had. There was so much tissue and so heavy of bleeding that I was sitting around in a Post-partum pad. My doctor said this is more than likely a very early (2-3 weeks along) misscarriage...

I really want to know what you think... (if you know anything about misscarriages of course). I feel like I need to know whether I've had one or not.

Thanks soooo sooooooooooooooooooooo much.

i had a miscarriage this summer. i was 8 weeks at the time and it was one of the most physically painful times of my life. my ob/gyn and i decided to let me have it naturally because at that point the fetus was so small and a d/c could have had more negative effects than positive. it took about 2 weeks and the first week was heavy cramping and little blood, followed by tons of blood and tissue with little cramping.

it is possible that you could have miscarried, and if it happened within the past few days you might be able to take a test and it can come out positive because there could be a small amount of hcg still in your system, although it is possible that it was too soon to tell.

actually when i miscarried at 8 weeks there wasn't that much tissue. it was mainly such thin blood.

my ob/gyn said that when women miscarry during their period they don't ever really know because the embryo is so small that it all just seems normal.

but for piece of mind you might want to buy an otc test and just see.

i still had hcg in my system a week after it had started, but i was almst 9 weeks so there were definetly more hormones present.

I was only about a month and a half when I misscarried , and I too had pain and thin heavy bleeding, my doctor, just let it flow he said since I was not so far in it would just pass, and not to worry about it, my hormones were all out of wack though , but this all happened at the same time my boyfriend broke up with me, not knowing I was having his child , and then I had to have surgery for my gall bladder , so it was a stressful time, but anyway, there was no real damage the doctor said it is perfectly normal for a first pregnancy,

I really don't know much about misscarriages, but it seems very possible from what other people have said. I have a book for you to read dear.

I actually asked the same exact question on the radio show Love Line, lol. Dr. Drew said that, at least in my case, it probably wasn't a miscarriage (I was late four months, and my period had lots of tissue in it, but the cramps weren't that much more severe than usual).

I don't know if that helped at all. ;P
