My menstrual breakouts seem to come and go...for a while they'll be terrible and for a while they'll be nearly nonexistent.

When they're bad, I try and make sure to wash my face regularly, but not too often or you strip too much oil. I keep my hair off my face, and since I often get them on my chin, I try not to rest my chin on my hands either.

Tea tree oil or cheap white toothpaste can help reduce redness and swelling.

I usually get tea tree oil in the local natural foods store. Cheap white toothpaste, I just use a drop right on top of the zit, like I would most pimple creams.

Use one or the other, not both-using both risks drying your skin out too much.

I usually leave it on for a couple of hours-until it stops tingling.

Then wipe gently off.

I get them every other month, I get them...I have them and scaring through the next month ready for the month after when I get them back all over again - hoorah!

As for help getting rid of them or preventing them, wash with a product made to help beat spots - like Clean & Clear - and make sure to have your own clean washcloth and towel. Avoid putting your hands on your face as much as possible and wash well about twice a day, also try not to bog your face down with moisteriser or make-up - as for make-up try to see if you can use the anti-bacterial make-up, when I was younger I used to use Rimmel anti-bacterial consealer and powder foundation which helped.
Try on spot treatments, I usualy use the Witch stick, it's a stick of witchhazel and other good stuff that helps to dry out problem spots - or use tea tree oil, lavender oil, toothpaste, purfume, anti-bacterial talc. Also try facial masks, I like the self heating ones or the peel off ones, there both good for fighting spots.
You might also want to ask your GP about anything he can give you, by the sounds of it you just have general spots, however it may be more, my mum suffers from very bad skin to the point where her face swells up totaly - she gets given anti-biotics when needed and her skin condition is aparently something to do with low iron - insodently I'm pretty sure that when you have your period your body is lower on iron, so perhaps some simple iron tablets (vitamins) might help you a little bit?

Witchstick should just be from chemists, although I'm in the UK, I don't know where else they have it, but I'd imagine them to be an international company.

Yeah, my face breaks out, too. Usually during my period, because that's when I'm off the NuvaRing and my hormones are different. It's evil. But it goes away when I put the Ring back in. :-)
