Back Again.. New but related question
Oct. 20th, 2003 09:34 pmOkay so refer to my last post if you didnt read it.
but long story short - had been getting my period every 11 days since july, and they were getting heavier and heavier and more and more painful and so the doctor put me on birthcontrol even tho it was against my will. i've been on the pill and the 11 day periods have still continued.
Only this time- last thursday, i started my period, was really heavy with terrible cramps for two days. and then on the weekend, saturday i didnt bleed at all during the day, but at night I did. All day and night sunday I didnt bleed. All day today I didnt bleed, but tonight I am.
What the fuck is going on with my body? is this normal?
I feel like I'm getting thrown in this huge whirlwind and its all being controlled by my menstruation.
Help ?

Date: 2003-10-20 10:31 pm (UTC)it's just I am *extremely* pro-life and I dont agree with birth control use at all. but if I need it, I need it.
My doctor has tried other things with me - even herbal remedies or giving me other types of hormones, but nothing has straightened it out. so it came down to this and quite frankly all the pain im in and how frequently im bleeding (which so isnt healthy) im willing to take the bc. she says i can take it for six months and go off of it and see my cycle re-regulates themself.
but... bleh. i should sleep i have to be up soon.

Date: 2003-10-21 12:59 pm (UTC)On the flip side, though, if you *are* willing to take it for medical reasons, I'd say just hang in there; it usually takes the body about three months to adjust to its side effects, so I'd think it would take about that long for your body to totally get "in the swing of things" and let it even out your cycle. It doesn't work immediately.
Good luck! It doesn't sound like your body's really treating you nicely at all right now... that's always a bummer.

Date: 2003-10-21 04:15 pm (UTC)Also, I'd like to note: I'm not sexually active, but still - I'm personally dont want to take birth control because it can mess up your system later on in life when you DO try to get pregnant.
Yeah, my doctor just is telling me to wait it out and if after three months it still doesnt do anything to adjust my cycle then I don't need to take it (obviously).

Date: 2003-10-21 01:21 pm (UTC)But my menstrual problems weren't nearly as harsh as yours seem to be...I'm sure that make the decision harder.
My reasons are based on my religion+spirituality. However, I know that the reason I don't take it is because I don't want to be using it as a birth control for preventing pregnancy. I know for a fact that medical cases calling for birth control are fine and aren't against what I believe, as long as the girl isn't using it for preventing conception. So even if I'd decided to use it, it would've been alright.
I don't know what your reason is. But whatever you decide to do, I hope everything ends up working out. The most important thing is that you get better. Sounds like it's pretty rough right now...hang in there. *hug*

Date: 2003-10-21 04:18 pm (UTC)And yeah, I do agree with what the church teaches as far as contraception... but it's come down to this as at least a temporary fix. I talked to my priest and things and he said it would be okay cuz it's being used for medicinal purposes, as long as it doesn't tempt me to be sexually active because of the fact that I "wouldn't" get pregnant. And also, that if this problem were to happen when I was married, other options would HAVE to be considered for quite some time before birth control could be considered.
