I have a question for you ladies.

Say you're 20 years old, you've been on the pill for over a year, and you have sex rarely. In fact, the last time you had sex was in August. Except now you're spotting in the middle of your cycle, something that's never happened before, and you don't know what's going on. This is not something that has ever happened while you have been on the pill. You *did* get your period last month, as normal, but this spotting is freaking you out. What the hell is going on?

This is a question for my wonderful friend. This is not one of those, "this is for my friend" when it's really for you.

Thanks ladies :)

Could be stress? Have you changed your diet recently? Or excercised more or less?

Most likely. I know when I'm pretty stressed out I can either skip periods or have breakthrough bleeding. It's clearly not because you're pregnant, but your body is under some kind of change in a different way-through diet, exercise, and stress. It's incredible how the body reacts to such things!

i agree with stress and exercising and diet as a factor, also, have you taken any medication? antibiotics caused spotting for me. have you been sick? a bad cold, for example?
have you taken a pill late, say 3 hours or more? this can cause spotting in some people.

if you're sure that you're not pregnant you don't have to worry too much about it.

besides, when has your last pap been? if you're due for the next one soon, you might go in early and have the doc have a look. (if you're really really worried and if you start bleeding heavier or it's very painful!)

(sorry i wrote "you", just a habit - but maybe your friends comes here to read.)

I have been on BCP for 8 years and just in the last year started having spotting between periods. Anything is possible - your body changes all the time. I wouldn't freak if I were her, but if she is THAT concerned, give her doc or clinic a call to get some reassurance.
