nuvaring questions for those who have it

will the nuvaring make me gain a ton of weight? and what the heck is up with this "intolerance to conact lenses" side effect all about? it doesn't go into any detail on any of the side effects on the webpages i've visited.

i'm only asking because i have to wait for my gyno appt, and i may forget when the time comes.

I use NuvaRing, and I have noticed that I can't wear my contacts as long as I used to comfortably (14-16 hours now, rather than "as long as I'm awake"). They don't come flying out of my eyes, and I don't have anti-contact rallies, or anything. ;)

It's still worth a shot -- I mean, I still wear mine every day, I just get reminded to take them out at night a little earlier than I used to.

i had the same problem with contacts on the nuvaring, but it went away for me. use lots of drops and wait for 3-4 months and if it doesn't go away, contacts may not be for you. tell your eye doc that you're on birth control and ask about how it affects the shape of the eye, and maybe s/he can help you get a better fit for your lenses.

I have used the ring for the past year. Some weight gain, but possibly associated with the changes in my lifestyle. No problems with my contacts.

My SIL has been on Nuvaring since she had her baby last year and she wears contacts everyday, all day with no probs!

i figured i'd put in a thumbs up for nuvaring again, and add that i also wear contacts all day everyday with no more problems than before. - no other side effects i've noticed either i.e. dryness or weight gain or whatnot :-)

Another 2 thumbs up for NuvaRing (well, make that 4 thumbs up... my partner is quite happy with my being on it too.).

Where I've had hella side effects on other forms of BC, I've had NONE on the NuvaRing. In fact, my period was shorter (3 days down from 5 or 6), and my symptoms were very much lessened. WooHoo! :-D

You put the NuvaRing in, forget about it for 3 weeks, take it out exactly 3 weeks from when you put it in, wait a week, and then exactly one week later, put a new one in. Simple.

If it comes out during sex (mine has only done that 3 times in the month and a half I've been on it... and I have sex almost every day, often times multiple times a day), you have up to 3 hours to get it back in you. You rinse it off with some warm water, and stick it back in.
