I know this is sorta off topic, but it does deal with feminine problems, and you guys are usually pretty helpful, so I figured maybe you could help. :)

Alright..symptoms of a yeast infection are itchiness, and discharge, right? I think I have one..besides the itchiness and discharge, I don't have any bumps or anything peculiar looking, and it helps that I haven't had intercourse in a while either..lol So I'm pretty sure this is what it is.

Is there stuff I can just buy in a store to treat it, or do I have to see a doctor? :/

Thanks for any advice.

If you have never had a yeast infection before you need to go to the doctor to get it diagnosed so that you are sure that is what you have. Then, they will either send you to get some of the over the counter treatments or give you a scrip for Diflucan.

itchiness and discharge are also symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. they're very distinct smelling discharges (yeast is...well, yeasty and BV is very sour/fishy smelling), and once you've had either one, it's pretty easy to self-diagnose, but if you've never had either one, i'd have to agree w/fianna and say get thee to a doc.

either way, best of luck :)
