Nov. 9th, 2003 05:54 pmmy cousin needs help, and i figured i'd ask you girls for advice.
she had sex with this guy last sunday... and he wasn't wearing a condom at first. after about two minutes, he pulled out and put one on, and they resumed.
anyway, he cheated on her, etc, and there's lots of drama. she's very worried that she'll be pregnant- she's due to bleed in 3-4 days.
she wanted to know if there was anything she could do NOW to induce her period. i looked and saw the bits about parsley and pennyroyal tea, and she's not sure if she can get her hands on it or anything...
anyway, what she's msot concerned about is that she WILL be knocked up, and she DOESN'T want to go through the whole abortion procedure. so... worst-case scenario, she's pregnant: what can she do, short of a surgical procedure, to get rid of it?
thanks so much for your time!

Date: 2003-11-09 03:17 pm (UTC)Within the first 6 weeks or so, a pregnancy can be terminated via medical abortion-- an injection or pill is administered, and then another pill is taken the next day.

Date: 2003-11-09 03:18 pm (UTC)The first thing she needs to do if she wants to induce her period is to relax. Stress will delay a period for quite some time. The stress over being pregnant is especially good for that. So have her keep in mind that her risk for pregnancy is very low.
Then, as far as parsley tea goes you can use the kind you get in the spice section of the grocery store. Dried Parsley. That is what I have used every time and it works like a charm. Follow the instructions in the memories of this journal about how to make the tea and drink it. Drink the tea and relax. Wait for her period to come. That's the first step. No purpose in worrying over abortions yet because she will most likely get her period and everything will be fine.

Date: 2003-11-09 03:55 pm (UTC)I dont have personal experience with this, but I've heard that if you take a small dose, several times a day, there is a good chance you will miscarry. (Small dose being as little as 10 mg).
More importantly, she needs to go to a doctor and get checked out for stds. They can also do a pregnancy test there and offer her further advice.
good luck!

I really do think that she should get some emergency contraception and a check up too.
