okay.
so.
99.39854534653% of the time, i think female insecurities about our bodies are pretty rediculous.

HOWEVER!
i have developed my own.

i know that discharge is very very normal.
and healthy.
a dry cooter is not a happy cooter.
but. my discharge [which is not in copius ammounts, nor foul smelling] tends to bleach out the crotch of my underwear.
i figured this was normal.

however, now i have reason to believe im secreting clorox and that its not normal.

any input?

it could possibly be a yeast infection...

discharge is definitely normal. are you seeing any correlation with the kind of discharge you have, and where you are in your cycle? it tends to look like egg whites when you're ovulating...

There was something on [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina a little while ago on this, here - http://www.livejournal.com/community/vaginapagina/1794709.html - it doesn't offer much in the way of explanation, but just to know you are not alone.

I think that normal vagina PH is on the acidic side, about 3.5 to 4.5 I believe, it's not all that acidic however if they are old undies I suppose acidic discharge could account for any fiber damage or change in colour.

a long time ago, when I was around 14-15 I noticed that my discharge would "bleach" the crotch of my black undies...

It stopped eventually, but I have never had a yeast infection or anything like that so...

Just thought i would share.

Wow. So that explains the orange bleachings in my black undies. I never would have guessed.

My explanation was always that I sometimes got period blood on the crotch of my black undies. When they went in the wash, the detergent would 'attack' the stain, thus leaving a little orangey bleach spot.

Don't ask me why it didn't happen with my OTHER black clothes.... probably because they didn't have period blood on them! ;P

Yah, I get the same bleaching. Maybe it's the stuff in the secretions, maybe the intense scrubbing I attack them with when I get period stains on them, maybe both. Who knows?

From whence did you get the expression "cooter"? I think it may well be the only alternate name I've come across for "vagina" that doesn't sound terribly harsh to me. In fact, I think it sounds kinda cute. Is it supposed to?

haha.. that made me laugh out loud.

um, all of my underwear is black, and the crotch in some would get bleached or turn orange, and i never understood why! this makes sense.
you're not alone.
