i started on ortho tri-cyclen over a week ago and i have been bleeding ever since... its going on 11 days now and im beginning to worry. Before this i have always been a five day regular kinda girl and i liked it that way. Is it normal for the pill to mess up your period this much... i thought it was usually made people more regular?

i hope that made sense and thanks for any help you can give me, even if its to direct me somewhere else

So you started bleeding while you were taking the white pills? That's odd. You did begin taking the pills after your period was over, right?

That's weird.. you shouldn't bleed until you're on the green pills.

I know I used to be a 4-day bleeder.. but now I'm a full 7 days. But that's only while I'm taking the green pills.

You might want to consider calling your doctor (or whoever prescribed them for you) and ask them about this.

Yes, they make you regular, but it takes a bit. I mean, all those hormones have to have time to pump into your system.
I do, however, recommend calling your doctor and asking, just in case.

When I started on birth control (Nordette, I believe was my first brand- it's effectively the same thing as OTC Light), I spotted heavily for a month-- straight through from one period to the next. The gyno said that it was normal. :p

alot of women have breakthrough bleeding for the first month or so. if it continues longer than that or you're having major cramps or heavy bleeding, call your doctor.

it doesn't sound too abnormal though. give it until your first period to start worrying.

I'm on Tri-Cyclen as well, but I've never experianced that. I've been on it for over 5 months know and my periods have only been 4 days usually, 5 at the most. I guess the only thing I can suggest is the same thing as the other people, you should get that checked out by a doctor, or ask to try a different pill. That type of pill just might not be agreeing with you ^^

You'll have to talk to your doctor, but when my cousin bled or spotted constantly on the first brand of pills she tried, she was eventually switched to something with a slightly higher dose. According to the other posters, though, this is normal initially, so I don't know how long it would be before it was reason to switch... so: doctor. Good luck.

I've been on OTC for 2 years now, and the same thing happened to me- I bled the whole first month. It was really light, though, after the time when my "period" should have ended. I've been totally regular, no other problems or icky side effects, ever since. If the bleeding is really heavy you might want to give your gyno a call, but it sounds to me like you're probably OK.
