hi everyone, ive got another question...

i just recently got ob tampons, the kind without applicators. ive tried to put them in a couple of times, but every time i try it hurts! its the same kind of feeling i got when i tried to use the big tampons with cardboard applicators...

i use other tampons, usually the smaller kind with closed tip plastic applicators, but ob tampons are so small and much less wasteful and i really want to start using them. i just dont get why im having problems with these tampons. theyre pretty tiny, too, so i dont see size being a problem.

thanks in advance for any ideas. im such a dork... :-/

I used those kind for a long time, and I found it necessary to really start to get to know the orientation of my vagina (like to what direction it points, how far back does it go, etc.). For example, mine kind of veers to the left and dips down, and knowing that helped me to steer it in that direction. Otherwise, I'd just try to stick it straight in and it would run into a wall, not go in all the way, and then sit so low it would be uncomfortable and hurt. The way I got to know my vagina's "orientation" was by using tampons with applicators and paying close attention, as well as checking out the vicinity manually. It also helps to be relaxed and try out different positions (e.g. one leg up, sitting with legs spread, lying down with legs over head, etc.).

Hope that helps...

Sounds like the tampon is creating too much friction, since there's no applicator. Have you tried that new Silk Ease OB tampon?

Using applicator-less tampons definitely requires being more comfortable poking around in your nether regions. You should get a good 'feel' for how things are laid out down there; put your finger inside and figure out how you're shaped...then just gently slide the tampon in. It's all about angle...try to squat a bit as well. Also, be sure not to get too overzealous with wiping yourself down there, as making it *too* dry around your vagina can cause excessive friction when putting the tampon in. I hated tampons before I used o.b., and now I won't use anything else. Until I get a Keeper, that is. :) Good luck!

I think that OB is the best. It's simple. It's not so wasteful. And it encourages women to feel more comfortable with themselves.

Like everyone above said, it probably isn't a problem with size. However, I have to admit that I was unable to use tampons until after I lost my virginity. Now, if you haven't had sex yet, I'm not suggesting you go out and do it. But it is possible that tampons might just be uncomfortable for you. This is probably not the case though. :)

Any tampon takes time to learn. Especially if you are switching between different designs. etc etc yadda yadda.

hope it all works out.
