Ok, My periods always tend to be pretty heavy, and Ive always used pads up until a few months ago, but I would still make messes. :-/ It seems like lately, even after I started using tampons, If the first night after my period starts I fall asleep with a super tampon in and wearing an overnight pad, Ill wake up and STILL have leaked and made a mess :(. When I stand up I always get a gushing feeling, and when I was just in the bathroom I wanted to check and see how my pad was doing, and all of a sudden I totally Dripped all over my pants, and it seemed like a lot too :-/. Im on my 3rd pair of pants for the day and its so aggravating. I actually bought the keeper, and Ive tried using it a few times but I cant get it in. Im leaving for basic training for the military in january and I really dont want to have to deal with it then. My cramps wernt particularly bad this time which makes me glad, but the first day, w/in an hour or two of when the bleeding starts, I get the worst pain and have to spend a couple hours in bed (and even once i can get up and do stuff, Im still pretty miserable for the rest of the day). I dont regularily track my period, but when I do its really abnormal. Sometimes I get them 2-3 weeks apart, sometimes im lucky and get 4. I also always get fresh/bright red blood and a few times a period ill get big blood clots that come out (ohhhh, i hate the feeling of when those come out grrrrrr), and so Im wondering what would be the best solution to help make it a bit easier?

My period always seems heaviest at night. Yours could be different, though. What i always do is sleep on a towel at night so it doesn't stain my bed or anything. I don't normally sleep with a tampon in because i'm afraid of getting TSS. My aunt told me to wear two pair of panties, but that's highly uncomfortable with me.

You have my sympathies. I used to have crazy heavy periods, too, though eventually, my rythms changed on their own. I think birth-control pills or similar would help, but I don't know how you feel about taking artificial hormones. And good luck with the keeper.

I have to agree with getting on the pill. I for one was not crazy about taking hormones, but the fact that I now know exac. when I am starting my period makes me very happy.
Just about everyone I know has less cramping and shorter periods except me... my period is now longer.. but oh well.
I still recommend it as the best solution to your problems.

...yes, I meant to specificly imply lighter periods for many people, too.
