I have a UTI ladies, i need help! I dont really want to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. but if need be i will.
Does anyone know any sort of home remidies or pills that i can buy OTC that will help get rid of it? Right now i'm taking AZO standard, the ones that make you pee orange, and they dont seem to be working so much.
any tips??

Unsweetened cranberry juice. Grapefruit juice. Acidopholous tablets... let me find my Hot Pantz zine and I'll tell you more. :D

Yes, the cranberry juice is one of the things I've heard of. I've heard of avoiding the whole long hot baths, go to the bathroom when you feel that you have to, the 'front to back' method hahaha. I work in a pharmacy, so I'll casually ask the pharmacist tomorrow for you.

Hmm...LOTS of water and cranberry juice. Make sure to avoid caffeine, as well.

Urinex is what I use to help with the pain I get with a UTI. I'm not sure as to what AZO Standard but I'm guessing it's similar since it does the same thing that Urinex does, with the orange pee and such. Keep in mind that these medicines won't actually get rid of the infection itself, it just coats your urinary tract so urinating isn't as painful.

If you really have a UTI, the only thing that will get rid of it is an antibiotic, Cranberry juice prevents it, and all AZO does is mask some of the pain and the frequency with which you have to pee. My cousin has you on her friends list I like to read her friends journal on occasion. I too work in a pharmacy, but I've heard the pharmacist recite that same speech a dozen times.

Been there, done that. I think drinking cranberry juice regularly will help keep those nasty things away. If you don't like plain cranberry juice, there's plenty of other flavours, like cran-apple. =) Anyway, going to the doctor might actually be the better way to go. The longer you wait, the worse it will get. UTIs can spread to your kidneys which will cause further complications. When I had my first UTI I waited about a week until it was completely unbearable to sit/stand/lay down, then I went to the doctor and got an anitbiotic. It seemed to help but about a month later, I got another infection. Either that or it was the same one that never fully went away. I went back and got a stronger antibiotic that knocked the sucker out in a day or two. And my doctor told me that those pills that make you pee orange really don't help, they just numb the pain temporarily. Well, hope that helps some! Good luck and hope you feel better!
