I know this might sound weird, but having my period makes me feel like such a woman. I have a very irregular cycle and can't take hormones to control it because of a psychiatric condition -- so I generally get a period about every six to ten months. When I get them, they are horrifically painful and heavy -- but at least I have one. Because normal women bleed.

I think I agree with you. I too have extremely painful periods, but some months, when my back starts hurting, it's almost comforting. Hmmm.

That is such a wonderful way to put it! And it's so important to remember that ... womanhood is so much more than makeup and cleavage and all the stuff we think is important when we're in high school.
