[identity profile] the--lady.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] menstrualhut

Hello everyone. I'm new to this community. I am 40 years old, my first period was at 11 and I am anxiously awaiting a time when I will no longer have them. My question is this: Is there anyone out there who has had, or know someone who's had "THERMACHOICE Uterine Balloon Therapy System"?

I have very heavy, painful periods, and since I am not having anymore children, this looked like a solution for me. I would like to hear from anyone with personal experience before I make my final decision.

In case you don't know what it is, here's the link www.gynacare.com

Any input would be appreciated.

It's unfortunate that livejournal members skew young... I see you don't have any responses in the other community either.

Do let us know what you find out about this and how it goes if you go through with it.

As I am only 18, I cannot give you personal experience. I can, however, give you second-hand experience. My Aunt had this done for the same reasons you are considering it. She didn't see the point in continuing with heavy, painful periods when there was a procedure that could make it better. She was also done having children. I asked her what she thought, and she's quite glad she had it done. She said she would suggest it to anyone who is sure they don't want anymore kids and who have a heavy, painful period.

I hope that helps :)

i recently had an endometrial ablation for the same reasons you listed. i had it done on the 20th of this month, but used the nova sure. only thing is i am 23. i have had uncontrolable periods since i was 12. ive landed in the hospital needing blood transfusions and everythign because they would last 3 months at a time, and i would go thru the overnight tampons in 30 mintues.
i found a website and message board that has been wonderful in finding information as well as other women who have gone thru the same experience. some of them have gone thru the thermachoice.

good luck in your decision for having this procedure. recovery is very simple, or at least it was with the novasure.
