Hey, I'm new here. Looking through the memories I saw a couple things on reusable pads... but I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on brands. I would make my own but I'm at school with no sewing machine or car to go and get materials. Sadly, buying them seems easier right now (though I do plan on making some this summer).

I'm fond of Lunapads (http://www.lunapads.com).

I bought the panties to try them out, and loved them. The panties or the mini pad work great as back-up for my Divacup. I have a pretty heavy flow, so I have to use more than one liner when I'm using just the pads if I don't want to have to change it every hour or so. The testimonies page seems to indicate that just one liner is fine for average flow.

Is a DivaCup like a Keeper?
(I didn't know you were a member of this group too!!)
I'm partial to the ones I make... but I won't advertise them here... :D

Yeah, the DivaCup is like the Keeper only made of silicone instead of rubber. It's also a bit longer than the Keeper, has a shorter starting stem, has ridges on the stem and base, and has measurement marks along the side of the cup. It's also made in Canada and the Keeper is made in the United States and has a longer trial period than the Keeper.

Cool! I own a Keeper, but keep hearing lots about the DivaCup.

The part of the pad that touches you on both the maxi and the mini pads is the same material as the liners. You don't use a liner with the mini pads at all and the maxi pads come with two liners each (unless you get the starter kit that comes with 2 mini pads, 2 maxi pads, and only 2 liners). The maxi pads (without a liner added) are a little longer and thicker than the mini pads. I'm sure if you had a really light flow you could easily get away with just wearing a pad with no liner.

When I use a mini pad or a pair of lunapanties as back up for my Divacup, I wear one pad all day and wash it in the sink when I get home. It generally takes the pad or panties 1 day to line dry in the warmest room of my house during the winter.

i've made pads by hand sewing them, out of flannel pyjamas that i was didn't wear anymore. they came out nicely. just so you know it is possible without a sewing machine or typical fabric. :)

These are my favorites. There's no liner at all, it's one piece:

If I buy a liner one again, it'll be the luna pads because they don't need to change the entire thing just to change the insert!

When I bought mine, they had tie-dye fabric, but that was two years ago so they're probably out by now.

I noticed a few months ago that they had a red Goddess print that I wanted, but I was low on cash and didn't really NEED them...

All I’ve bought from them so far are the pantyliners because I already own a large selection of cloth pads that I bought from Whimsy Pads (which she went on maternity leave and I never found her site again, so I don’t know if she’s still making stuff). I love her pads. They’re fun (for example, one set is M&M print flannel, another is of a teddy bear in the rain) and the flannel is very soft and durable, but they’re the kind that have inserts, and I got tired of replacing the liner and having clean inserts on my light day. I’d rather do it the other way around b/c I have TONS of inserts and only a few liners. I keep meaning to add some cheap elastic from the fabric store to the whimsy pads so that I can wear them like Luna Pads.

GladRags

I use GladRags. I love them. I got them because they were the first brand I found. I have considered trying LunaPads though. I really think you could changed the liner without changing the entire pad with GladRags too, but I wouldn't want to because I like the feeling of a fresh dry pad after a few hours of strong bleeding.
