Hey, I'm new. My name is Emily. I have a question for everyone...so please help me...

This will probably sound stupid, but I have to ask. I have my period in the middle of the month (between the 14-16). This would be fine, except that my spring break is March 15-21. I had planned on visiting my boyfriend during that time, but I'll be on my period. No sex. It's a long distance relationship, and already I have sexual frustration from never being able to be intimate with him.

What I want to know is, is there a clean way to have sex during your period? Or is there a way to stop your period? My cousin said something about using a douche, but I don't know much about them. Any advice or help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

cleanest way - sex in the shower.

but if you prefer sex on the bed, lay down a dark colored towel.

taking a bath before might slow down the blood flow a bit.

my SO and I have no problems with period sex. It can get a little messy depending on how heavy your flow is, so you might want to wait till a light day, unless you both don't mind a quick shower afterwards.

sex while menustrating can have its rewards. it always makes me relax and lessens my cramps.

If you're on birth control you can skip the placebo week and start a new pack of active pills right away.

Anyway, having sex during a period isn't that bad. In fact, for some females it's more enjoyable, because it can help cramps and there's extra lubrication. I was in a long distance relationship too, and if you're as frustrated as I was then having a period isn't going to keep you from getting some. lol.

Whenever I've had sex on my period, it wasn't really messy, as in it didn't get on the sheets or anything. It got on us, but that's not something a little Kleenex can't fix. You can always do it on top of an old blanket you don't mind staining just in case.

I hear a diaphragm will take care of the flow, though you'll have to get fitted and I don't know what these things cost. There's also Instead disposable menstrual cups if you can find somewhere that sells them.

Yes, sex in the shower is cleanest. And I also agree that sex while on your period isn't all that messy. If I'm wanting it enough, I'll just have a bath or a shower, or take out a tampon, which helps absorb any blood that is there. During and afterwards, I find my period stops for an hour or so. I know every body is different. Plus there's always a shower a duex post period sex :D Hahahaha

Long distance relationship huh? hmm...i doubt your partner will mind. Its really not that messy, I was on mine for 6 months straight after a birth control shot gone wrong and i came up with many many ways to have sex.

1. Shower--- Obviously, but jumping in the damn shower everytime you want some gets old and annoying.

2. Dark colored towels

3. Do it on top of an old blanket, if you dont mind the staining.

4. if your on the pill, skip onto a new pack and take active ones, your period will not come until afterwards.

5. Take a bath or a shower right before you have sex, it will slow down the blood flow.

6. Drink alcohol... sounds crazy, but alcohol slows down the blood by 75% so your barely bleeding. You dont even have to get drunk, just down a wine cooler or a Mike's Hard if you can.

Instead menstrual cups work during intercourse. You should start using them next month because I found that it took a few months for me to get used to them. You can also look into the sea sponge for intercourse. Be sure to sew some dental floss into it, though (mine got “pushed” up too high for my short fingers to reach and pull out!).

I recommend having a towel around so that you don’t stain the sheets. Some partners are ok with oral sex while someone is menstruating, and some are not. If you can’t get the Insteads working and you’ve chosen against the tampon, you can have oral sex with a tampon or a reusable menstrual cup in (just don’t have intercourse with these in!). If you choose tampons and are worried about the string annoying your partner, you can “tuck” it up inside. The tampon won’t get lost.
