about a week ago [7-10 days], i misplaced my birth control pills, and ended up missing three. on the second/third day of missing my pill i got my period [a week early] which i figure was because of missing the pills. the next day i started taking my pill again and have been taking it every day since. the thing is, after four days of having my period [a regular cycle for me] is lightened, but it has still not completely gone away. it is mostly browner stuff coming out now, not really any red blood, but i don't think this is normal. i'm wondering if i should take a break from my pills to have my period again, keep continuing and hope it stops or what? any advice or info is appreciated :) thanks!

i should add that when i say light, i mean to the point where i don't need a pad or tampon. almost like daily discharge but with colour?

Brown gooey stuff is normal... That's how I always start or end my period. Many periods are different.. It wasn't necessarily good that you missed those pills, but it wont hurt you. Whenever I first start my period, I get like a brownish, thick blood, and as my period progresses, it gets dark red, and then towards the end it gets brown again. I'm sure you're fine. Don't stop taking the pills. Wait it out and you should be back to normal by your next period.

I think it was b/c you threw your body out of whack by stopping and then starting. If you miss pills again just let it go until your period starts up again and when its over restart your pack. This used to happen to me all the time when I was on the patch (they would always fall off and if I didn't have anymore my period would start almost immediately.) I also get that brown dischargey stuff. Its nasty and so I'm told, normal. If I were you I'd take a break until your period starts again. Then start up your pack the Sunday after your period starts. Make sure you use a back-up method b/c your body might release an egg and you could get into some trouble. I hope this helps!

if your brandis like my old brand, the insert, which I'm sure we all forget about has detailed instructions on what to do in various circumstances of missed pills. You should check, but I'm pretty sure for more than 2 missed pills, you are supposed to start a fresh pack as soon as you can and carry on in that new schedule. Also, I think if you have sex you need back up birthcontol like condoms until you get through that first pack.
