god i hate cramps. i've spent most of the day on the toilet thinking i had to go, but realizing it was only my uterus cramping.

Sometimes that happens to me too, so I Google'd and here's what I came up with:

Question: When my period starts, I get diarrhea, or feel like I have it. Why?
Answer: The drop in hormones that initiates bleeding is probably what triggers your once-a-month bout of loose bowels. Another culprit: prostaglandins, which cause the uterus to contract and expel its lining. The diarrhea is nothing to worry about as long as it's mild and lasts no longer than a day.
