I'm feeling rather confused right now...I was on birth control pills for the past 3 months but they made me feel severely depressed so I've switched brands. However, I don't know if I want to continue using pills. I don't like the way they mess with my moods and stuff. But I HATE menstral cramps. Like HATE. I occasionally throw up and have to stay in bed for several hours. That is my main motivation for staying on the pills. My doctor told me last week that I can take medication for my cramps, such as Vioxx. I was wondering if anyone here is on such medications and how you feel about them?

I took the pill route, and I was lucky enough not to have any noticeable side effects, but I did know someone in school who took Vioxx for her cramps. It worked for her. It's a painkiller of some sort. Different painkillers work better for some people than others. Good luck finding one that works for you.

specifically, vioxx is something called a cox-2 inhibitor. it's like celebrex, if you've heard of that. basically, it has a similar action to aspirin and tylenol, but it much more expensive, so be sure to check with your doctor about whether this is really going to work better.
