Okay- sex with my boyfriend last night was grreat! But- afterwords, i was sore. Okay- maybe it stung a bit while we were making love. Now, nearly 12 hours later, my vagina is mad at me. Just really sore. Any suggestions? I feel like leaving work and laying down with an ice pack between my legs! I'd like to figure out a "natural" remedy- and I'd like to know what the hell is going on! Sex never hurt in the past like this- whether a yeast infection or anything like that was involved. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Could it be a latex allergy? Yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis can also be culprits or even not enough lube.

Your vagina has ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria within it, sometimes the balance can be thrown off and the bad bacteria takes over, this is what happens with BV, this can often lead to other vaginal infections and irritation. Usual signs are excessive discharge, white/discolored discharge and a fishy smell – but a lot of women don’t have the symptoms or they go unnoticed, it’s not until they have swabs done that they find out.
If you think it is BV go to your gyno, and say what you think is wrong, he/she will do swabs and if you have BV most of the time it is successfully treated with cream or a course of antibiotics. Sometimes it does take more than one treatment, sometimes it is also genetic, but often if you practice good vaginal care in regards to sex, menstrual products used, washing etc. then it can be easily gotten rid of.

I have BV myself, it has not been treated to date despite good vaginal health (other than wearing jeans all the time) my GP thinks it is just a genetic factor rather than something I have done wrong. I too get irritation from sex, sore, red and bumpy around my vagina after sex if I am having a particular bad day. You might want to try something like a thrush cream for the time being just to sooth it off a bit until you get to a doctor or gyno.

well jeans are just bad cause tight clothing is bad... so if you wear baggy jeans it's fine... basically anything 'breathable' is better- cotton panties are supposed to be the best.hmm.. that's all i'm thinking of off the top of my head...

another thing I would suggest is using gentler soaps when washing your vulvar area. antibacterial soap and deodorant soap are too harsh.

oh, and if you wear panty hose or tights a lot, that could also restrict air circulation... maybe switch to garter hose and let your crotch breath.
