The past two months in the middle of my menstrual cycle I've woken up to or experienced intense pain in my pelvis which resembles menstrual cramps, only more severe. I will usually have to take something like Aspirin to calm them down enough for me to sleep again, and they are *incredibly* painful. I've looked up pelvic pain, and found things about endometriosis, and uterine cysts but they all are accompanied by heavy periods. Mine have actually gotten much lighter and shorter, with the absence of cramps altogether. The pain isn't secluded to the left or the right, and it only comes for one night. Both times were at night, very late. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here because, I'm clueless? I'm not on any medication at all. The last time I had a gyn exam was April, I had gotten an HSV1 infection genitally and the doctor asked me if my mother had taken medicine to prevent a miscarriage because my cervix was farther to the left than normal, but that it shouldn't cause problems. My flows started out the normal 7 days with cramps and not they're 3-4 with no cramps but this weird pain. It worries me that something like this could mean I might not be able to have children in the future, and right now I don't have insurance/car/job. I can't find anything relating to this. I thought maybe ovulation cramps, but are they supposed to double you over in pain???

hi- would you say that there was anything that happened the day before you experienced this pain? or that it came around the same time in your cycle? i've had random pain like that once a few months ago, really bad and then it never happened again, but yours has happened more than once and you have had a change in your period (normally i wouldn't think much of that but because you're having this pain)... i' sorry i can't offer any ideas to what could be going on, my only suggestion is to visit a planned parenthood and talk to them a little about it? especially if it happens again. it sounds pretty painful and not like something you just want to wait out.

Is there any possibility you could be pregnant? I was experiencing some weird abdominal pains a while back, and one of the first things my doctor checked for was an ectopic pregancy. I would say definitely go check out Planned Parenthood, or some similar sort of clinic.

whoa, whoa, whoa... way to freak a girl out! Um... I'm not doctor, but from what I've read, I don't think it could be an ectopic if you've had this pain two periods in a row. From what I understand, ectopics are something that require quick action after the onset of symptoms so if nothing happened to you the first time and you're still here a month later for it to happen again, probably not an ectopic. But just to educate yourself, take a look at http://www.ectopic.org/medical_information/symptoms.asp

Either way, with something that painful, I'd want to check it out with a doctor if it were me. Good luck.
