do antidepressants mess up menstrual cycles? this would have been my first period on amitriptyline (elavil). i expected my period between days 28-33, and it didn't come. i'm on day 42. i have taken two pregnancy tests in the past week - both negative, so i've ruled that out. i read that it is possible for antidepressants to screw these things up. how common is it?

When I went on Prozac, I got my period early - like breakthrough bleeding, etc.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing, though, because Prozac is an SSRI, and Elavil is a - um - tricyclic, I think.

But I think there can be some effects, although I don't think they're super-common.
