Okay.. I am on Yasmin birth control pills. Been on them about a year and a half. Before that I was on Ortho Tri-cyclin for a few years. The whole reason I got on the pill was irregular periods. I switched to Yasmin because I bled for two whole weeks once on the former pill. Since the switch, I haven't had much irregularity, although my period would come at the end of the week, at the last few white pills.

Now, my boyfriend and I have been having sex. Not so much lately, about once or twice a week. We start off without a condom, but he always puts one on before things get out of control. He swears he's never come inside me, and I've never felt anything of the sort, so I assume he hasn't. And the condoms have never broken.

Last week (16) I was supposed to start on the white, "period week" pills. But for some reason, I opened a fresh pack and took the normal ones. Stupid, I know. Thursday night, I finally realized what I was doing. At first I thought I skipped my period, but my boyfriend said I did not (he knows my cycle better than I do, haha!). Sure enough, when I got home Friday morning, I realized the white pills were still in their pack. Durrr. So Friday night and last night I took the white pills.

My period hasn't come yet, though. I'd like to think it's because I was taking the wrong pills. Does anyone know if taking the wrong pills will throw off my body?

And Tuesday I'm going to get a pregnancy test, just to be sure. But I'm really freaking out here. Help would be appreciated.

Bingo. Adding hormones your body isn't prepared for will definitely throw things off. Starting a new pack is how to skip a period; you should have just continued, skipped your period for the month. Now you won't have the full cycle of hormones for the next month, unless you start a NEW pack and throw out the opened one, and you'll have to use a backup method.

A backup method is something like condoms, spermicidal lubricant or foam. You'll have to use those things to stay safe. Also, be careful starting out w/o a condom, just because he hasn't came inside you doesn't mean that there hasn't been any pre-cum fluid released from him. That is something you can't feel inside you, and it also contains sperm. Just a warning is all!

yeah, many a baby (including my cousin's upcoming youngster) is a pre-cum baby.

Condoms, mostly. You could probably try the VCF or inserts, but condoms are your best option.

as a side note: i wouldn't throw away the pack you accidentally started. keep it around as a back-up for if you ever lose a pill or throw one up, etc. it's a good thing to have, 'just in case'.

hey, no one else has said this yet so i will:
stay calm! there is very little chance you are pregnant. if you continue to take pills with hormones in them then your body continues to think it is pregnant when it's not, and you're safe. if possible i would have continued to take that second pack of pills, because skipping back and forth is just going to mess you up more. that's how people skip their periods, by taking the pills in the next pack and skipping the "period week" pills, and they are still totally safe. however, since you've gone back and started to take the sugar pills, as puttysan said, that pack with some pills missing isn't going to be very helpful.

my best advice to you is next time you see your doctor, maybe you should ask about ortho evra (the patch) or nuvaring, because those method don't require you to take a pill every night, and i know that is a hard thing to do for young people. personally i use nuvaring, and i use condoms but not for the entire time the way you do, and i always feel very safe. as long as you are not concerned about STDs, pre-cum is not a major concern when you are also on the pill. but the pill is only 99% effective when taken correctly.

The patch does sound easier, but I get the pills for free because my mother is a nurse. I don't really have the money right now to pay for another method.

Thanks for the info, though.

Oh. This IS [livejournal.com profile] purinsesu, by the way. I just posted under my old username because I was paranoid about my friends finding out about the dilemma.
