I'm having my period. And the cramps hurt so bad. Not as bad as that one time where I was having the super period from Hell and had to go see the doctor or anything, but almost that bad.

I thought that you couldn't have your period when you were taking BC, except for when you're taking the pills for that week? I'm so confused...

if you've been on a formulation for about three cycles (long enough for your body to get used to it, so to speak,) if you're getting more than one period per pack (yup, the sugar pills of the week off is supposed to trigger the bleeding... how many days into that week you start varies from person to person and it may continue past that week,) then perhaps another brand with a slightly higher level of hormones would work better.

Actually, the sugar pills have nothing to do with "triggering" the bleeding. They're just placebos that you can take to remind yourself each day to take a pill up until you start a new pack. In case you're wondering, I use the 28-day packs (Alesse) and I never take the sugar pills; I just throw them out because I can remember on my own when to start a new pack.

oh, I didn't mean literally trigger in and of themselves (and it was a typo, "or the week off," not "of") but good of you to clarify. To further clarify for anyone passing through, it's the drop in hormone levels that triggers the bleeding, which is why missing pills can make you start bleeding.

Yeah, I never took the blanks, either. I felt silly knowing they were nothing, even if their point is just to keep the habit. Ironically, it made me forget to take my antihistamines, since my brain said, "take antihistamines when you take your pill each night," not "take whichever necessary pills nightly."
