if you have or recently had a yeast infection before your period, you should not use tampons until you are certain it is gone. use pads until your next period. sometimes using tampons, sponges, etc. directly after a yeast infection will cause it to recur.

The directions say

I'm pretty sure that most OTC creams tell you in the directions not to use tampons while treating a yeast infection. Just to be safe, I would not use them immediately after either.

steer clear

Stay away from tampons until you are 100% sure you are infection free.
