Welcome to the community.

Your period doesn't necessarily have to follow the same patterns from cycle to cycle, and since you are in your early teens, it is even more likely to see wide variations. what you've described sounds normal... is it the shortness of it that concerns you, or is there something else you aren't expressing? A period of only a couple of days is perfectly within normal.

two things:

i'm 20 and my periods last me 3 days on a normal basis. it has been this way since i was 15. so its probably nothing to worry about.

and secondly, please change the date of your post or pc. because if you keep it incorrect it will mess up the dating of your posts in communities. it isnt february 14th.

there's a community I'm in where there are 2 posts in 2008 by the same person. I saw them in the archive, not when they were made. I left a comment asking, did you mean to do that? but I never got any response.

Was this your first period? I started when I was 12 and my first period only lasted 3 days. 1st day was what I considered "normal" (which is now what I consider "light", ha!) the next day was less, and by the middle of the third day, it was gone. I thought I had lucked out and would always have 3 day periods, but everyone after that lasted 8 or more days until I went on birth control.
Anyway, whether this was your first period or not, I doubt you have anything to worry about. I would just consider myself lucky to have such short periods! If your periods are usually longer than this, any number of things could have caused a change: change in diet, sleep schedule, exercise, stress, or just changes in your body. At 14, you cannot really expect any amount of "normality" from your cycle. Keep asking questions when they come up, but don't be worried about this one.

Being 14 and new at having your period. They take a few years (up to 5) to completely normalize. When did you have your first period?

It could be from whatever. Everyone tries to pin being late down on something... personally, unless i'm like 5 or 7 days late, I figure it's my body being my body. We tend to forget that our bodies don't have chronometers set off of the atomic clock in them. They are living, organic beings... they set their own time.

Unless you're like WAY late, don't overreact. If you've been having sex, and you need some peace of mind, go out and take a pregnancy test (do it sooner [like the day it was due] rather than later... trust me, peace of mind). It took me like 7 years of having my period to not freak out when it was more than like 2 days late. I wish I would have learned earlier not to freak out.

Some people say that stress causes it to be late. But then some doctors and clinicians say that it's just a myth, that tests don't show that it has any effect. Personally, when I'm a few days late, I let my body do its thing, figuring it knows what it's doing better than I do.

The only time I got worried was for when a few months in a row it was more than like 7 days late (once it was like 14). I keep track of my periods WAY back (I looked at my calendar and realized that I have them tracked through 1999), and I noticed that things started being late when I started a new medication. I went to my doctor and asked them if it had menstrual side effects, saying that my period was unusually late for me. He looked it up in the PDR and said "yeah, that can be a side effect". and then I knew. When I stopped taking the meds, my period went back to normal.

But seriously, if you're only like 2 days late, don't sweat it. Your body is still normalizing. If you're worried about pregnancy, go and buy a pregnancy test (I use EPT and use their 2nd option, peeing in a cup and dipping the stick in, to "charge" the test stick) and know for sure.

Hope this helps!
