Is it possible to be anemic from a looong period? (I've had it for 2 weeks and I'm feelin' really tired and week. Already been to the doc, put me on Provera to stop it.. just wondering if its possible to be anemic.) :) Thanks!

yes, excessive bloodloss can drop your iron levels. however, the tired and weak feeling could mean other things, so you migth want to mention it to your doctor. in the meantime, a little extra dietary iron or an iron supplement probably wouldn't hurt, but don't overdo it with supplements.

I don't know if you have it in the US but Salus brand Floridix is a really, really good iron supplement. It's made from all natural ingredients and has vitamin c to aid absorbtion and b complex vitamins as well. It is made from iron fed yeast which is extremely easy to digest. If you have a problem with yeast or gluten, then there is Florivital which is free from these.
Iron can be hard to absorb, many supplements being difficult to digest and giving you constipation. Ferrous sulphate (a type of iron) blocks absorbtion of vitamin e, so avoid that. Ferrous gluconate is one of the better types.

constipation! that's what I was trying to think of when I said not to overdo the supplements. very useful the rest of your tips about iron, too. I will keep it in mind for myself as well.
