Hi all, I didn't see this topic in the memories...

I've recently become sexually active, and I'm have absolutely no idea what to do when it comes to sex during my period. I assume people don't just avoid it - that's a decent chunk of time! - but it seems like it would get so messy. I figure I can put a towel on the bed to deal with that, but we're in a dorm with a shared hall bathroom so we can't exactly mosey down there covered* in blood to clean up. Do you keep a stack of wet washcloths, or what?

Thanks so much!

* ok, so not covered :P

get a trash bag and use baby wipes. toss the wipes in the trash bag and youre done.
and make sure that you double up on the towel thickness. like fold it in half. and dont ever use a shirt, they are too thin.

ugh. towel wipes sound kind of gross.

I do it all the time.
Just lay a towel out (red or black if you don't want to ruin it)

and since you have a shared bathroom and stuff I would keep one nearby (under the bed or whatever you would do)

I noticed, at least with me. when I have sex, it doesn't come out as much
(kind of like when your swimming or sleeping or what have you)

I've noticed that too - it's like the flow kind of stops until you're done. VERY convenient :)

my husband and I don't have sex on my period. He doesn't mind, but I do. But regaurdless of when you are doing it, we have a box of babywipes by the bed to clean up with afterwards :)

AMEN to baby wipes!

i wish i had known about this before i had babies... :)

My suggestion.... have a couple of dark (black, dark red/brown/purple) towels you reserve for sheet protection and general wipeage. Keep baby wipes to finish up the general cleaning. :)

Have fun and be safe!

In addition, those wet baby wipes are good coz they have something in them that cleans up (disinfects) when you wipe - so your outsides will be clean of the bacteria associated with having sex. My husband and I always use baby wipes (unless I volunteer to go shower) - whether on or off my period. :)

disinfects?? i dont believe thats very accurate. perhaps if you are using alcohol based wipes...but that would just hurt your bits. but i do agree with you, obviously, with the fact that they are good for cleaning up post sex mess.

They're not alcohol-based .. disinfect may not be quite the right word, but I know for sure that its more than just water-moistened cloth :)

That happens to me too, and the week before and the week after haha. Too bad for me that my bf is not currently comfortable with "activities" while I am menstruating.

We can always tell right before I'm going to get mine because I literally JUMP my husband when he gets home from work. I don't think he minds too much though...

Why did I never think of baby wipes??????

My husband won't touch my during my period. He's afraid of his reaction if he were ever to see blood on "Hank"...

Yep. Especially in contrast to total loss of interest during PMS.

I wait until the third day.
It's less messy then because it's not the raging first two days. I don't know about everyone else but my period is REALLY heavy on the first 2-3 days and then lightens up.
I got from using Heavy flow tampons with a pad to panty liners in a matter of days.

Hi hi!

I just wrote about this topic in my journal. I would've liked to make it more educational (like: remember to clean any sex toys that were used during your period, and remember to remove whatever blood collecting method you're using - which is common sense, of course, but I've heard ENOUGH stories just from my close friends to warrant the reminder), but hopefully what I did write in regards to my personal experiences has information enough for you.

I hope that helps sweetheart.

i usually uyse older sheets during my period so it doesn't matter so much.
Personally i would only used the bayby wipes without the evil ingredients in as i would not want all those nasty perfumes etc on my vagina.
You can get these at health food shps

I don't know if this question is still being looked at but maybe you could try those instead cups? They aren't biodegradable or anything but it says right on the package you can have sex with them in. Otherwise though I would just do the towel thing and baby wipes. Just thought I'd mention it =)
