sex during menstruation
May. 5th, 2004 07:09 pmHi all, I didn't see this topic in the memories...
I've recently become sexually active, and I'm have absolutely no idea what to do when it comes to sex during my period. I assume people don't just avoid it - that's a decent chunk of time! - but it seems like it would get so messy. I figure I can put a towel on the bed to deal with that, but we're in a dorm with a shared hall bathroom so we can't exactly mosey down there covered* in blood to clean up. Do you keep a stack of wet washcloths, or what?
Thanks so much!
* ok, so not covered :P

Date: 2004-05-05 04:50 pm (UTC)I do it all the time.
Just lay a towel out (red or black if you don't want to ruin it)
and since you have a shared bathroom and stuff I would keep one nearby (under the bed or whatever you would do)
I noticed, at least with me. when I have sex, it doesn't come out as much
(kind of like when your swimming or sleeping or what have you)

Date: 2004-05-05 04:50 pm (UTC)AMEN to baby wipes!
Date: 2004-05-05 05:55 pm (UTC)My suggestion.... have a couple of dark (black, dark red/brown/purple) towels you reserve for sheet protection and general wipeage. Keep baby wipes to finish up the general cleaning. :)
Have fun and be safe!

My husband won't touch my during my period. He's afraid of his reaction if he were ever to see blood on "Hank"...

Date: 2004-05-05 07:36 pm (UTC)It's less messy then because it's not the raging first two days. I don't know about everyone else but my period is REALLY heavy on the first 2-3 days and then lightens up.
I got from using Heavy flow tampons with a pad to panty liners in a matter of days.

Date: 2004-05-05 11:03 pm (UTC)I just wrote about this topic in my journal. I would've liked to make it more educational (like: remember to clean any sex toys that were used during your period, and remember to remove whatever blood collecting method you're using - which is common sense, of course, but I've heard ENOUGH stories just from my close friends to warrant the reminder), but hopefully what I did write in regards to my personal experiences has information enough for you.

I hope that helps sweetheart.
