Hey everyone. Just joined this community awhile ago, although I have been reading it for awhile.
Little background on my lovely period.
I was just turned 10 years old when I first got it. I'm 19 now. I have always had long periods, about 6-9 days, my first 3 days being quite heavy. I was on the Pill for awhile about a year ago. It shorten my periods for awhile, but gave me wicked cramps. Then I was on Depo. Didn't get my period for almost 2 months, but then it came on full fledged for 2 months (not so cool). I'm off Depo now, it's been about 11 months since my last shot.
Anyhow, on to the question part.
Lately my periods have gotten a lot heavier than the last 9 years and I have way more clotting. My roomate told me that in some cases the doctor will scrap the lining of your uterus(like a D&C), so that it's like starting fresh with no uterus lining build up.
Has anyone had this done? Did it make things better?

I've never heard of this procedure, but I don't know if that would really make a difference. It doesn't seem likely there would be any "build up" after having lots of heavy periods~ after a period you're starting fresh anyways, aren't you?
Or perhaps I'm not understanding the question ;) In any case, good luck!! :D

Try the Nuvaring.
I actually have regular periods now (let's not discuss the painful 9 day red seas I had previous) and the clotting and cramping have been reduced a bunch too.
It has saved me (and sheets and knickers and pants....)
You get it :)

(dunno if a D&C is called for, but it beats the melon baller I threatened to use if my dr. didn't figure somthing out.)
