You know what gets me?
Panty liners.

I know some women who have heavy discharge - not bloody, just mucus - wear panty liners every day, or most days, and if that's the best solution for you then hoorah for your informed decision. But... I wear underpants to keep goo from getting in the crotch of my pants and smelling musky every time I stand up or walk. It seems like panty liners are totally superfluous, you know? Like an unnecessary extra step. Seriously, isn't that what panties are for themselves?

I actually posted this as a comment to the Ditties article post, then a second later decided to make it its own post.

Well, I see you point, but if a person really likes the panties, and doesn't want them getting stained, then pantyliners come in quite handy.
Or, if they have daily discharge that is heavy enough that the wetness actually makes them feel physically uncomfortable. That does happen.

I discharge enough that i need to wear pantyliners almost everyday in order to avoid changing my panties a couple of times throughout the day. I buy cloth liners, though. It saves money to use cloth. It saves time to use liners.

I wear panty liners because the wetness makes me uncomfortable. Not mentally, but physically. I just don't like the feeling of wet panties clinging to my vulva unless I'm in a sexual situation.

I think I actually would wear panty liners if I could find some that stayed put and were comfortable. If I am having a "niagra falls" day of wetness as I call them, my panties get damp and they don't seem to dry out. I don't like that feeling. Also, prolonged wetness could promote yeast overgrowth! So wearing panty liners and changing them frequently could help keep you dry and prevent problems.

I am glad that panty liners are there for those who want them. It's kind of a personal choice thing, although I do think marketeers want women to believe that they "need" them so they will buy them, much in the same way that they want you to believe you "need" to douche.

i see nothing wrong with panty liners. i do object to the idea of wearing them for fragrance reasons (that goes for any 'feminine products'). but as you can see from the comments above, for people with very heavy and very constant discharge, panties simply aren't enough. it's uncomfortable while wet, but it's even unpleasant once it dries. i'd advocate cloth liners, but plain unscented ones are fine too, whichever your preference.

i've never personally known a woman who wore panty liners for any other reason than for bleeding or heavy discharge, so i can't comment on how common it is for women to use them for reasons you'd deem superfluous.

but don't let the idea bother you -- there are so many women who benefit from the existence of liners.

i use liners on the light days of my period near the end but i've considered using them for my discharge because quite often i have so much discharge it goes through my cotton underoos and even gets the outside of my jeans wet. it's very uncomfortable feeling to me. i personally enjoy them.
