Helloooo.
Im a first time poster- long time lurker.
Anywho...
Today I went in the hut. Normally this would excited me to treat myself to milkshakes and long showers, but I am very sad to be un the hut today.
In about 28 hours is my Junior Prom.
Has anyone been to a formal while in the hut? Or anything similar?
I got a really nice lingerie set to go with my dress... And I guess I was a little surprised that my friend came to visit.
Any advice on how to make this the least painful/messy/depressing event?

Date: 2004-05-13 12:06 pm (UTC)It's not a big deal. Too many women are like "I'm going to have my period during my prom! OMG!"
It's not the end of the world. Seriously. Use some tampons or a DivaCup or whatever you usually do. Try drinking Rasberry Leaf tea. Take some pain killers (I use Extra Strength Excedrin). Eat well, get enough sleep. Deal with it like you'd deal with any other period.
I don't remember if I had my period during my prom, but if I did, it wasn't a big deal.
Go and dance and have a good time. I *LOVED* my junior prom. :-)

Date: 2004-05-14 05:53 pm (UTC)(I am NOT a thong wear-er and bought ONE for the occation, which I unfortunately didn't have time to wash before running to the dance)
Once I got over that whole mess (literally...sorry to be gross about it)
ANYWAYS...make sure you stick a couple tampons in your purse...all the moving seems to make me blow thru em kinda faster than normal...also drink a lot of water & take midol. You don't wanna get dehydrated to begin with, much less when you're bleeding. Midol (in case you're not real familiar with it) contains asprin for the aches & pains, caffiene to ward off that "time of the month" drowziness, and a dihuretic to keep you from feeling too bloated in your pretty dress.

Date: 2004-05-14 07:55 pm (UTC)Get over it. Everyone has their period, and more than likely you'r enot the only one that has it on prom night. Grab a couple tampons, know your flow, wear a liner, and let 'er rip.
But by now, you're at your prom. So I hope you just chilled out and didn't worry about it.
You can have sex some other night.

Just because Im still young and I still get to enjoy my youthful nights does not mean you have to be hostile.

Date: 2004-05-15 08:25 am (UTC)I didn't have to be an ass, and I wasn't, and I'm sorry if I came across that way. But I just don't get why people are flipping out about having their period on prom night. Yeah, I get that you don't want to have to worry about running to the bathroom every two hours like I did, cos my flow was heavy as fuck that night, but Christ. You deal with it every month, you should know your flow and know when abouts you'd need to go to the bathroom. I don't know. I just don't get it. And I hate this stigma attached to prom that you have to have sex/lose your virginity on that night. I didn't; I went one year with a boyfriend who's mom was watching over us like a hawk, and my sr. year with a guy that I didn't care about, cos neither of us had a date. But I had FUN anyway.
I dunno. Whatever. I hope you enjoyed your prom, tho, period or no.
