hello everyone! i'm new. :) my name is becky, i'm 22, live in michigan and i hate it. i've been trying to find a community like this for the past week or so because i've got a question that most girls seem to deal with or have dealt with already. i plan on going to the gyno as soon as i have insurance and getting on the pill, but i'm just curious what advice anyone else can offer me who has been or is in my shoes right now.. here's my situation.

i've had a CRAZY period this month. i'm irregular as it is, but this month has been nuts. i started not last wednesday but the wednesday before. two days were really really light.. just spotty, really. i was off for a day then it was really really heavy (big clots and everything) for the next week, all the way up until sunday. i was off for a day, on for a day, off, on. it's driving me nuts and i just want it to stop. does anyone know if this is a sign that something is really wrong with my girly parts or is it just irregularity? i know i need to get to the gyno, i've never been before.. but i just don't have the money right now.

this isn't the first time it's happened. it happened last summer or the summer before and it was heavy every day for a month. i'm irregular already, i usually go about once ever two months. i'm not currently sexually active but i have been.

noo. i talked to my friend about it and she said that it happened to her too and then i stopped and she didnt have her period for a couple of months. thats all i've gathered about it.

irregular periods like that can be totally normal, or they can be a sign of something else. you gotta get to a gyno, i'm afraid to say. go to planned parenthood or your state health dept. or some other clinic type of thing - it's good to be in the habit of going, since you haven't been before i think you really should go and get your pap smear and get to chat with the doc. if you're interested you can probably pick up some cheap BC pills there too - i used to be totally irregular until i got on the pill and now am on the nuvaring and i love it, no more irregular periods ever. :-)
