how do you deal with bloating and water retention in the abdomen before/during your flow? any natural remedies out there?

Flatulence (gas) can be treated with nutmeg tea. Trapped gas that is making you feel like a balloon will be expelled quickly and painlessly after taking about 1/2 tsp of ground nutmeg and mixing it in hot water. Repeat 4 hours later if needed. Water retention is best alleviated by cornsilk tincture or dandelion tincture, both of which can be purchased at your local health food store. Cornsilk tincture should not be taken for more than 4 days in a row due to its propensity to deplete electrolytes. Dandelion tincture is safe to take every day. When you are taking diuretic herbs it is very important to still drink enough water and take vitamins so that your electrolytes don't get imbalanced.

I don't know about natural remedies but it looks like the above posters do. Myself, I take Midol Complete and it works just fine. Helps with the bloaty feeling a ton. Not to mention cramps that I swear are trying to kill me!

Mostly I sulk, feel rotund and wait for it to be over, but recently I gave up all junk food and made a special effort to eat more fruit and veggies, and I noticed that pre-menstrual bloating was either reduced or nonexistent. YMMV.
