ok so you know how on birthcontrol, if you want to skip your period, you just dont take the sugar pills and start directly with your next pill packet? well i did that recently...and i didnt get my period at first...but then when i was coming to the end of my packet...i had my period for two a half weeks!!! it was horrible, and i will never do it again. has anyone else had the same or similar problems?

Sometimes you'll have breakthrough bleeding if you haven't ever skipped a period before, or if you're on a very low dose pill. Talk to your doctor and see if they reccomend your type of BC for skipping periods -- not all work as well as others do for that.
(I take Mircette, and it works fine, although the first time I tried, I did have some break through bleeding. None since though.)

Because the hormone level in OTC varies throughout the cycle, it's less reliable for skipping periods. It works for some women, but I think mostly not. And some women just never seem to have any luck skipping periods with BC.

I'm experiencing it right now - I'm on the Ortho-Evra Patch - which is basically the same hormones as the first week of ortho tri cyclen...and I got it last Saturday, and I took off the patch yesterday and I still have it. GAH!

I did it because it was inconvenient to have it when I was supposed to (long road trip) and I ended up getting it right after anyway! BOO!
